LAGUNA UPLANDS PRESERVE
This eight-acre preserve is owned by the Laguna de Santa
Rosa Foundation and is free and open to the public
throughout the year. Views
overlook the Laguna de Santa Rosa and across the Santa Rosa
Plain to Sonoma Mountain and Mount St. Helena. The
property was purchased in 1996 by the Sonoma County Agricultural and
Open Space District with the assistance of the Laguna Foundation.
Besides being a nature preserve and recreation area for people, the
Laguna Uplands Preserve is an active experiment in effective,
science-based, community supported ecological restoration. Teachers and
educators also regularly use the site as an outdoor classroom to learn
about the Laguna de Santa Rosa ecosystem.
